Appointment of New Director

We are proud to announce the appointment of a new Director within our engineering and after-sales functions with effect from 1st October 2017. Nick Martin has been promoted to the position of Technical Director.

Nick joined Global Cutting Technologies in 2000 and has significant knowledge and experience in the technical and engineering functions of the company and the many industries that is supports. Nicks commitment and loyalty has been pivotal to the company’s growth and success.

Edward Cosford, Managing Director of Global Cutting Technologies said “The knowledge and experience that Nick brings to the board further strengthens and reinforces our position at the forefront of technical service providers. This promotion continues to consolidate the leadership of our organisation and is evidence of the great career opportunities that employment with us may offer."

HOW GREEN ARE YOU?

Environmental care is high on our priority list not only from the legal side, as there are hefty fines for polluting the land, but also from a good morals point of view – we produce waste products and we must recycle and dispose of these in a safe and considerate way. Most engineering companies do not do this. Amply demonstrated by leaving old oil with you, the customer, or by throwing oily rags and filters into the normal bin etc.

Our liquids recycling partner is Duston Oils of Northampton who are a long established, Environment Agency registered waste liquid processing company who use environmentally friendly techniques and wherever possible recycle for further use as other products.

We hold a waste producers license making us registered and completely traceable by the Environment Agency. As such all of our Service Engineers hold waste carrier licences, so the transporting of hydraulic oil, and degreasers both clean and dirty are also registered with the Environment Agency.

Unlike many other companies we do not just remove the used oil from your machine, we remove it from site and dispose of it legally, traceably and in an environmentally friendly way.

Big orders – Big machines!

Even with the uncertainty following Brexit, our order book continues its upward trend.

In particular, we are firing on all cylinders in the automotive industry having just signed contracts to supply two of the biggest die cutting systems ever to be installed in the UK.

These massive machines incorporate the very latest in die cutting technology with many sophisticated and smart features that have become ‘must haves’ within such applications.

Hand in hand with all this activity, our service department continues to be expanded to ensure that the influx of additional service work being attracted from other areas within the die cutting arena is smoothly integrated.

GCT LAUNCH ALL-NEW WEBSITE

……and this is obviously it!

Re-designed from top to bottom, mobile and tablet friendly, slick navigation and easier than ever to make enquiries.

Our old website had served us well and continued to do so right up to the day we switched to the new one but time moves on and we move on with it.

We take great pride in keeping abreast of, and investing in, every facet of technology available to us, whether it be our range of equipment, management systems, marketing, stock control and service support and planning.

We like to think that our forward looking approach is encapsulated in this new website of which we are very proud and ticks another box in our continuing expansion.

SECOND HAND AND RECONDITIONED DIE CUTTING PRESSES

In response to a considerable increase in demand for second hand and reconditioned cutting presses, we have expanded our reconditioning capacity within our new factory with increased stock levels and additional dedicated engineers for faster throughput.

Our aim is to provide a constant supply of reconditioned swing arm cutting presses, travelling head cutting presses, fixed beam presses, automatic travelling head cutting presses and receding head cutting presses.

Although we specialize in Global Cutting Technologies machines, second hand cutting presses of other makes and models are often available.

All machines are professionally reconditioned by our own engineers and installed by our installation team.

Although we are always happy to supply reconditioned cutting machines, many customers upgrade to our Nova cutting press range because these are so competitively priced.

The Nova range consists of new swing arm cutting presses, travelling head cutting prees and fixed beam presses and these have become a real success story over the last three years when budgets have been so tight.

A new leasing scheme has been launched simultaneously which is attracting many customers who can see the cash flow benefits of procuring machines with manageable, phased payments whilst the equipment is earning money!

Hand in hand with all this is our constant need to locate second hand die cutting presses.
Cash is waiting, so if you have any unused die cutting presses surplus to requirements, contact us today for a quick decision.

Latest Receding Head Press from GCT

Our latest machine encapsulates everything we know in one stunning package: 70 tons, 900mm deep head, max pressure ‘everywhere every time’, auto digital die setting, ultra user friendly HMI. And a great finance package to go with it!

As the UK’s number one supplier of receding head die cutting presses for the last 15 years, we know a thing or two about this style of machine and very much pioneered it from the early days.

With the speed and versatility of a travelling head press and the size and tonnage of a beam press, the combination of features provides a winning combination rarely achieved by any other machine style.

Speed, visibility, ease of feeding, sheet or roll feed, operation by unskilled labour, fast learning time and more.

Backed by the best service organisation in the industry with £250,000.00 worth of spare parts, why look anywhere else?
Year 2015

UKs FASTEST SELLING SWING ARM PRESS

Our swing arm cutting presses [curiously also called clicker presses or clicking presses – we can tell you the history if you’re interested!] are the fastest selling die cutting presses in the UK. Incredibly popular in companies large and small, sales have increased tenfold over the last 5 years.

The reasons behind this success story are many but our commitment to buying in big quantities and keeping large numbers in stock means that we can always offer the most competitive price and ex stock delivery.

Our swing arm presses come in sizes and tonnages to suit every application and can even be installed in a small workshop or garage when fitted with our neat digital phase converter.

The carefully specified features make the machines fast and easy to use with no operator skill required giving all users the same benefits. As a result, GCT swing arm presses can be found in large multi nationals with rows of machines as well as cottage industry ‘one man bands’ with a single machine, perhaps connected to a single phase electrical supply.

Although clicking presses represent the starting point within our huge range of die cutting presses, customers for them receive the same expert advice on application and tooling and the same industry leading service and spares back up as customers purchasing our automated die cutting lines – all our customers are important to us!

GREAT NEW FINANCE PACKAGES

With interest rates still low and demand so buoyant, we have put together some really innovative finance packages applicable to our complete range of machines.

From the smallest swing arm cutting press to the largest automated die cutting system or water jet cutting machine, we can offer hire purchase/lease purchase and other schemes where needed.

Of course, the attraction to customers is the facility to procure a machine and pay for it whilst it is working and making money with minimal impact on cash flow.

With our water jet cutting machines being so competitively priced, allied to the finance package, this fantastic technology is now within reach of more companies that ever before.

Imagine buying a water jet cutting machine for only £1,500.00 per month – there has never been a better time to invest in this process.

As one customer said last week as he bought one of our receding head presses with finance – “I never thought that I could invest in a machine like this with a monthly payment that is less than my mortgage” - says it all really!

SUCCESS STORY FOR GCT SERVICE DEPARTMENT

100% over budget and still climbing! Competitors’ customers beating a path to our door!

Sounds dramatic – but true. At GCT we have always been justifiably proud of our service capability to support our wide range of machines but this is the year when all our efforts have crystallized. With increased man power, enhanced systems and a big push by all concerned, service turnover has gone through the roof with many new customers realizing that we are the service provider of choice. Reliable, consistent, efficient, well organized – these are the attributes on which we have capitalized as well as continuing to invest heavily in our spare parts inventory which currently stands at £250,000.00.

It is a huge plaudit for the entire service department as these outstanding results have been achieved whilst keeping up with the record level of machine installations and machine approval tests.

Whether repairing the smallest clicker press or the most sophisticated automated die cutting machine, GCT engineers apply the same commitment and care to resolve problems quickly.

The broad experience and wide range of skills inherent within the department enables GCT engineers to work on not only GCT machines but many competitors’ machines including, swing arm presses, travelling head press, fixed beam cutting presses, receding head cutting presses, automatic die cutting presses and systems as well as water jet cutting machines.

NEW FINANCE DEAL ON OUR LOW PRICED WATER JET CUTTING MACHINES

Only £1,400.00 per month – that is a typical repayment for our most popular 3000 x 1500mm water jet cutting machine! Unbelievably, that includes everything except installation.

Until recently, water jet cutting machines were regarded as an elitist process, only affordable by companies with a large bank balance.

At Global Cutting Technologies, having been involved with the water jet market for many years, we were only too aware of this with many potential customers becoming really excited about the process only to be discouraged by the high asking price.

This hurdle has finally been removed by the introduction of the NOVA range of water jet cutting machines at remarkably low prices but with high specification features such as ball leadscrew axis drives and remote diagnostics included as standard.

Available in the market place for the last four years, second generation machines have now been introduced and sales have gone through the roof as a result.

The ‘all inclusive’ pricing policy has proved a real winner with no add-ons other than installation – what you see is what you get.

GCT’s famous commitment to after sales back up continues with £50,000.00 worth of spare parts inventory having been put into stock and a team of centrally based engineers [GCT’s engineers – not contractors] have been fully trained and offer quick response when needed.

Investment in a brand new showroom with a demonstration machine always available for test cutting seals the deal!

Open days, which have been so successful, will be held at 10 week intervals throughout 2013 in addition to individually tailored demonstrations and tests for prospective customers as required.

WATER JET CUTTING MACHINES AT HALF THE PRICE YOU WERE EXPECTING!

Incredible but true – we have set out to give the market what it wants – truly affordable machines.

Beat the change in capital allowances before April 6th.

By careful market research and sourcing, the critical price point for the market has been met and customers are genuinely surprised by the typical price for pure water or abrasive water jet cutting machines.

At Global Cutting Technologies, having been involved with the water jet market for many years, we were only too aware that many potential customers would become really excited about the process only to be discouraged by the high asking price.

This hurdle has finally been removed by the introduction of the NOVA range of water jet cutting machines at remarkably low prices but with high specification features such as ball leadscrew axis drives and remote diagnostics included as standard.

AT LAST! AFFORDABLE WATER JET CUTTING MACHINES FOR EVERYONE.

Until recently, water jet cutting machines were regarded as an elitist process, only affordable by companies with a large bank balance.

GCT MAKE MACHINE BUYING EVEN EASIER

A new press for the price of a good dinner out!

At GCT we have noticed that there has been a huge upswing in enquiries for second hand cutting presses from companies with restricted budgets. Whilst we can and do rebuild and supply many second hand presses of all types and sizes, the cost of quality rebuilding and a responsible attitude to safety requirements often means that the final price of the reconditioned cutting press starts to move towards new price territory.

Customers may resort to buying at auction or 'as seen' from unscrupulous dealers but this is a minefield - no support, lack of spare parts, safety implications.

To help potential customers, starting with GCT's range of new swing arm presses, an amazing new deal has been put in place to offer a new 20 ton swing arm press for £100.00 per month* and, until the end of October, free delivery is included on the UK mainland.

Response to this innovative approach has been remarkable and this scheme will be rolled out to include other machines in the Nova range - in particular travelling head presses, fixed beam cutting presses and water jet cutting machines.

NOVA RANGE OF CUTTING MACHINES NOW FULLY ESTABLISHED

GCTs recent policy of introducing a range of competitively priced, value engineered die cutting presses and water jet cutting machines has proved to be highly successful.

Throughout the recession it has been apparent from the number of enquiries being received that there are still many companies out there requiring die cutting presses and water jet cutting machines at really manageable prices.

The first thought is always second hand machines which, although often available, do not always fit the bill.

For this reason GCT have carefully sourced a range of swing arm cutting presses, travelling head cutting presses, fixed beam cutting presses and water jet cutting machines at really competitive prices.

The dramatic ramp up of sales has shown this to be the way forward in this part of the market.

Added to this is GCTs drive to stock even more second hand die cutting presses which are professionally reconditioned and offered back out into the market place for a wide range of industrial applications.
Year 2013

ANOTHER RECORD YEAR FOR GLOBAL CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

Building on the success of 2011, which itself was a record year, we set ourselves an ambitious target for 2012 which we actually surpassed.

The record turnover figure was achieved with an ever evolving product mix of manual machines such as swing arm cutting presses, travelling head cutting presses, receding head cutting presses and sliding table fixed beam cutting presses and a broad range of highly customized automated die cutting systems for diverse products across a broad spread of industrial applications.

The GCT Nova water jet cutting machine range was a particular highlight with many customers realising that, at last, a truly affordable system is on the market at an all-in price and with a very attractive finance deal. Several machines were supplied to companies with less than 10 employees and one customer had only three! The water jet cutting process has transformed these businesses.

As 2013 approached, the challenge was to aim even higher and adopt a plan to achieve this with ever increasing levels of marketing activity and maintaining high investment in machines for the GCT demonstration centre.

The stocking policy for manual machines as well as a wide range of second hand and reconditioned die cutting presses has also made a significant contribution.

The current record order book shows that GCT is set fair for 2013 and our customers will be kept informed of yet more new developments and machinery ranges as the months progress.

THE REAL ECONOMY IS HERE

In recession - out of recession - heading for a double dip recession?

If you listen to economists you would at best be confused or at worst suicidal.

Well, let GCT tell you something positive.

As machinery suppliers to manufacturing industry, we are a realistic barometer as to what is really going on - and we are the busiest we have ever been with a record order book.

Swing arm cutting presses, automatic die cutting presses, water jet cutting machines - you name it - we have record orders for them all.

Plus service revenue is at an all time high!

We can find a solution to any die cutting requirement whatever your budget.

So, don't listen to the gloom mongers - talk to us instead!

RECORDS ABOUND FOR GLOBAL CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

Despite all the gloom and doom pervading the news media, GCT have ploughed on with their expansion programme and achieved notable milestones and records during the year.
  • Record turnover for machinery sales.
  • Record turnover for service and spare parts.
  • Record sales of swing arm cutting presses.
  • Record sales of water jet cutting machines
  • Record sales of automated die cutting systems.
Without doubt, the new factory and state of the art showroom and testing facilities have driven these successful results along with the considerable investment in stock machines.

On the subject of stock machines, the policy of buying and stocking large quantities of swing arm cutting presses has really paid off with sales more than tripling. As the investment level for a GCT swing arm press is surprisingly manageable, buyers usually come to a decision quickly and then, understandably, want a quick delivery. GCT’s stocking policy aims to deliver a new machine within just a few days of the order being placed.

Recent open days have proved to be such a popular theme that more are being planned and these will become a regular event in the coming year.

Further exciting new equipment has been added to the cutting machinery range and announcements regarding these will be made in the coming weeks.

OPEN DAYS HUGE SUCCESS AT GCT

The completion of GCT’s newly extended showroom and the formalization of the distributor agreement for the Elitron CNC knife cutting table coincided to produce extremely well supported open days during July.

A team of sales and support staff from Elitron combined with GCT engineers to demonstrate the amazing versatility and smart software, cutting a huge range of gasket materials, foam, packaging, polycarbonate and carpet materials.

Visitors from many industries attended, having been attracted not just by the CNC knife cutting table, but by the Nova water jet cutting machine and also the extensive range of die cutting presses which were all displayed during the event.

Interestingly, there is now an increasing awareness that water jet cutting machines can be no more expensive than a CNC knife cutting table [at, least not as far as GCT’s portfolio is concerned] so the technologies can be offered in a totally unbiased way in order to find the genuinely best solution for any given cutting application.

This theme really resonated with customers old and new, many of whom completely realigned their thoughts on machine type and investment criteria.

A number of orders were closed shortly after the open day sessions and, in fact, the event was so successful and well supported [in fact it was over subscribed!] more open days are already being planned and will become a regular event in the cutting industry calendar.

However, GCT are keen to point out that they currently have the largest range of cutting machinery on permanent display under one roof and customers obviously do not need to wait for open days – they are welcome to visit [and indeed many do] at any time in order to avail themselves of a focused evaluation of their applications, taking as much time as they require to run through die cutting presses, water jet cutting or CNC knife cutting.

Full conference facilities are also available with access to a vast library of videos showing machinery and solutions for every conceivable industrial cutting application.

Additionally, GCT’s extensive sub contract die cutting facility is now fully up and running to provide a service which has been requested so often by customers over the years.

This facility is providing a cutting service for customers who experience peaks in production but may not be ready to invest in equipment or who have a general outsourcing policy. Work is even being processed for customers awaiting delivery of new systems but are in need of capacity in the intervening period.

All these facilities and services are combining to provide the most comprehensive ‘one stop shop’ for GCT customers:
  • New die cutting presses and systems
  • Water jet cutting machines
  • CNC knife cutting tables
  • The Nova range of low cost cutting machines
  • Second hand cutting presses
  • Sub contract die cutting
  • Spare parts
  • Service

GCA TECHNICAL EVENT AT GLOBAL CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

All of us at GCT were very pleased to welcome members of the GCA to our new factory and showroom on the occasion of the GCA Technical event on March 22nd.

In particular, we were delighted to renew some old acquaintances [some of which were older than we care to remember!] and to reminisce about old times and to get up to speed about everyone’s current status and plans for the future.

We were very grateful for this opportunity to show off our new facility and extensive machine range and I hope that our collective enthusiasm shone through – we are very proud of what we have achieved.

We sincerely hope that the attendees found the day both interesting and enjoyable and that my various speeches did not get too boring – I only noticed one member [who shall remain nameless] nodding off. Hopefully, the lunch at Kettering Park alleviated any tedium that had set in!

With our long association with the gasket industry, we tailored the demonstrations to show the very latest in cutting technology including:
  • The Elitron CNC knife cutting table for the cutting of gasket materials including tang graphite. This beautifully built system is of very rigid construction and has very user friendly software. Extensively used throughout Europe and the US, machines are now being installed in the UK.
  • The GCT Nova water jet cutting machine with comprehensive gasket cutting specification and an all-in amazing price structure.
  • The RBC 60 receding head cutting press – the UK’s best selling large area die cutting press.
  • The HSC high speed kiss cutting machine for kiss cutting and through cutting with scrap and product rewind stations.
  • The Nova range of swing arm, travelling head and fixed beam presses which are designed for maximum specification, maximum value and minimum price.
  • Our reconditioning line for automatic travelling head presses as well as other types of die cutting press.
For those GCA members who were unable to attend on the day, can I just ask that you contact us direct at any time in order to arrange a personalized viewing of any machines that may interest you – we maintain a fully stocked showroom all year round and we are always delighted to welcome visitors.

GASKET CUTTERS ASSOCIATION TECHNICAL EVENT AT GCT MARCH 22nd.

Global Cutting Technologies are pleased to announce that we are hosting a ‘Technical Event’ for the Gasket Cutters Association on March 22nd.

This will take place at our Wellingborough site in our new demonstration centre with a networking lunch being held afterwards at the Kettering Park Hotel and Spa.

With our long association with the gasket industry, we will be showing the very latest in cutting technology including:
We greatly look forward to welcoming all the delegates and renewing some old acquaintances!

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Despite the appalling weather conditions prevailing throughout the UK, by careful planning and sheer hard work at GCT, few customers have experienced significant delays to installations and service work.

Four huge consignments of machinery arrived in the midst of the worst snow (our thanks to our shippers!) including a container load of swing arm cutting presses, receding head presses and fixed beam cutting presses.

All machines were checked, given their p.d.i. and dispatched to waiting customers within 7 days.

Meanwhile, work continued on the new showroom with stock machines being installed and even urgent demonstrations taking place.

On top of this, two water jet cutting machines arrived and were assembled, checked and run – one for the showroom and one dispatched and installed with a customer.

Meanwhile, regular service and breakdown work on all types of cutting machine continued to be coordinated and implemented.

For the few customers who did experience a delay – our thanks for your patience!!
Year 2011

NEW SHOWROOM OPENS ON SCHEDULE

GCT’s new showroom was completed on schedule in the middle of January with customers and suppliers old and new attending the celebratory initial open day.

Tailored presentations and machine demonstrations for the entire range – including swing arm presses, travelling head presses, fixed beam presses, receding head presses and the Nova water jet cutting machine, have taken place on various days since then and this will become a regular feature.

More die cutting presses arrive shortly including a high speed kiss cutting machine and a price busting new travelling head press.

A select few were also invited to see a highly specified cutting and heat seal system which is finding many applications in the medical, filtration and automotive industries.

The Nova water jet cutting machine has been demonstrated to a large number of customers, the latest model having high speed drives and an innovative drilling head. Materials from foam to sheet steel and aluminium were cut for applications both familiar and obscure, opening the way to new markets.

The effect of this has been to drive GCT’s order book way above pre-recession levels.

The only problem has been that to satisfy the demand for recent orders, some showroom machines have had to be sold but more are on the way soon and the need for higher stock levels has already been identified.

NEW SHOWROOM FOR GLOBAL CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

Although it has been only 6 months since moving to new purpose built premises, GCT are charging ahead with their expansion plans with work starting on a new demonstration centre to be housed within the new building.

This new facility will be open in January with a series of open days being planned to showcase a range of new machines and developments.

Included in the open days will be the complete Nova range which has been an incredible success due to its highly competitive pricing – swing arm presses, fixed beam presses and the Nova water jet cutting machine.

In particular, the Nova water jet machine continues to go from strength to strength with customers’ enjoying the benefits of high specification, carefully sourced machines at amazingly competitive prices – a long list of customers are awaiting demonstrations on the incoming systems.

Stocks of second hand die cutting presses are being increased to meet the continuing demand for good, reconditioned machines, especially automatic travelling head presses which are professionally rebuilt by GCT engineers.

EXPANSION CONTINUES APACE AT GLOBAL CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES

With the first year already having gone by since Global Cutting Technologies moved to larger, prestige premises, continuing implementation of a strategic growth plan has resulted in a record order book for the company.

GCT’s new showroom was opened in January and in order to accommodate an increasing number of demonstration machines and the larger than expected throughput of customers, the showroom is already being increased in size. Contracts have now been awarded and work is expected to be completed by the end of June.

The aim is to always have available for demonstration and testing the following cutting machine derivatives:
  • Swing arm press
  • Travelling head press
  • Fixed beam press
  • Receding head press
  • High speed kiss cutting press
  • Water jet cutting machine
  • CNC knife cutting table.
With particular reference to ‘dieless cutting’, GCT’s water jet machine sales have accelerated way beyond original forecasts with many machines ordered and awaiting delivery.

GCT have also been appointed as exclusive distributor for the UK and Ireland for the innovative Elitron CNC knife cutting table.

This heavy duty machine, in conjunction with its advanced blade technology, elegant software and projection system, is eminently suitable for the gasket, foam and rubber industries. Hard gasket materials can be processed as well as foam up to 120mm thick.

Having both water jet and knife cutting machines in the range, GCT can offer the best dieless cutting solution in an unbiased fashion.

A series of open days are now being planned and all gasket producers will be contacted with full details in due course.
Year 2010

Official Opening of Global Cutting Technologies' New Building

On 19th of July, we held our official factory opening ceremony and open day.

Friends old and new, suppliers and customers, attended a champagne buffet which ran all day and throughout the evening.

With the emphasis being on showing off the new facility, visitors were also interested to see stocks of die cutting presses, both new and second hand, and a new Nova water jet cutting machine which was sold on the day.

A live webcam link was in operation for visitors to see GCT's key supplier's factory, Sysco Machinery Corporation, with Sysco,s president, Frank Hsieh, offering his best wishes for continued success and expansion.

An impressive element which was evident on the day, was the huge wealth of die cutting and water jet cutting knowledge inherent within the company plus the network of associates, friends, agents and suppliers throughout the world which combine to provide a massive pool of knowledge from which GCT customers can benefit.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. NEW FACTORY MOVE COMPLETED ON TARGET!

Our move to new, larger, purpose designed premises went according to plan and new stocks of new and second hand die cutting presses are arriving weekly

This all part of our planned expansion in order to better serve industries needing our expertise in die cutting, water jet cutting, cutting machine service and, now, a state of the art sub contract die cutting service.

On this latter subject, although only recently launched, we have been inundated with requests for details of our sub contract die cutting service.

The directors and personnel at GCT have a longer and more in depth experience in the field of industrial cutting machines than any other UK company and this has translated into GCT becoming the partner of choice for an increasing number of our customers.

GCT moves on and up.

Yes, difficult times, but we are busy and expanding.

At the end of this month, we move to larger, prestige premises as part of our planned expansion in order to better serve industries needing our expertise in die cutting, water jet cutting, cutting machine service and, now, a state of the art sub contract die cutting service.

The directors and personnel at GCT have a longer and more in depth experience in the field of industrial cutting machines than any other UK company and this has translated into GCT becoming the partner of choice for an increasing number of our customers.
